Cape Town is fast becoming one of the latest and hottest destinations for weddings, elopements and honeymoons.
We have identified this trajectory and have crafted this opportunity to enable you to become a pioneer and industry leading photographer in this region.
For this retreat, there will be 7 meticulously crafted styled shoots, designed to attract your dream international clients. The 7 shoots encapsulate the current and future wedding market trends and will consist of intimate elopement photoshoots, engagement photoshoots, and a boutique destination wedding shoot at one of South Africa's most luxurious wedding venues in the Cape Vineyards.
I have the privilege of traveling to South Africa for weddings and elopements yearly, and there has been no greater joy than mixing business with pleasure! If this is your goal too, then let's do this thing !

Shoot #1: Catamaran Elopement
Shoot #1 will begin at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town on day 2 of the retreat. We will all go on the Catamaran Boat in the morning. There will be a floral set up, flat-lay details and a beautiful model couple from Cape Town! Be sure to pack your swimming suits to slide off into the ocean from the Catamaran at the end!
Shoot #2: Catamaran ENgagement
Shoot #2 will also take place at the V&A Waterfront on the Catamaran in Cape Town. The engagement couple will be dressed in neutral tones with champagne props and a small floral bouquet.
Shoot #3: Cape Town Destination Wedding at Boschendal
Shoot #3 will take place at one of Cape Town's TOP wedding venues called Boschendal. This wedding venue is a beautiful old dutch style winery set between the mountains. South African celebrities often get married here! The theme will be a luxury, editorial style wedding. We will have beautiful white florals and a table scape set up with lemons, figs and green grapes. There will be bridesmaids and groomsmen to resemble a real destination wedding, including getting ready photos and other fun props to add to your gallery!
Shoot #4: Chapman's Peak vintage car elopement
Shoot #4 will take place on the famous Chapman's Peak drive in Cape Town. This winding, narrow pass is beautiful in all ways from the parts where it cuts into the mountain to the amazing views of the ocean. We will have an elopement couple and an old vintage car with a floral set up.
Shoot #5: Chapman's Peak Engagement
Shoot #5 will also take place at Chapman's Peak. Photographers will split into two groups of 4 or 5 and get engagement and elopement content. The engagement couple will be casually dressed and props will include champagne, polaroids and rings.
Shoot #6: Penguin Beach couple
Shoot #6 will take place at Boulder's beach in Simon's Town. This beautiful white sand beach and turquoise blue oceans have penguins roaming around freely! We will be taking photos here with a beach couple! The couple will be in casual attire and bathing suits.
Shoot #7: Intimate beach Cottage Elopement
Shoot #7 will take place at our beautiful ocean view cottage in Kommetjie, located right on the beautiful white sand beach. We will have intimate getting ready photos, including a bridal boudoir, simple yet elegant flat-lay details and a vow exchange on the beach.

Where You'll Stay
This beautiful beach cottage is situated right on the shore in Kommetjie. The area is close to restaurants and nearby famous sites like the Kristenbosch National Gardens, Cape Point, Boulders Penguin Beach, Chapman's Peak drive and so much more! It's only 40minutes from the Airport and 30Minutes from Cape Town City. The beach cottage has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and sleeps 10 guests.

Hi, I'm Aneleh (tough name, I know... Its Helena backwards ;) ) I'm SO excited you're here! I'm a lawyer and part-time photographer in South Africa, and one of Heidi's close friends! We cannot wait to host this amazing retreat for you guys in Cape Town, South Africa! We're working with some of SA's TOP wedding vendors to bring this vision to life! Come and experience the beauty that South Africa has to offer and build your portfolios to attract real clients!

Hi, I'm Heidi! Owner of Heidi Straus Photography and currently living in Minnesota, USA where I spend 8 months out of the year. During the US Winters I travel back to my hometown in South Africa to capture weddings, elopements and host these amazing retreats for awesome people like YOU!

Cape Town International airport is the closest airport and this is where attendees will be picked up from.
Yes! You are more than welcome to bring a friend/spouse/mom whoever!
You will both receive $300 off when booking with a friend. you will share a bed with this person and they will be part of all the activities, meals and shoots.
Yes, there is wifi at the beach cottage.
Make sure to bring a wall adaptor for you chargers, hair tools, cameras etc! South Africa uses type C, D and M (Mainly M type). Aneleh and I will bring extra adapters as well!

We're very selective when it comes to choosing models. Every effort is made to prioritize diversity with the model selection and making sure they have experience in front of the camera.
Yes, Cape Town is perfectly safe. We will always be traveling together as a group. Aneleh and I will be picking everyone up from the airport. So no need to worry about any dodgy business :)
We will mostly be dining out at amazing restaurants in Cape Town, the rest of the time, Aneleh and I will be providing meals.
